Around 30% of the US was either foreign-born or second-generation immigrants during WW2, compared to just 2.6% for Imperial Japan (mostly Koreans from Japan's imperial holdings). Seems to be something a pattern when small ethnostates go up against large, multiethnic pluralist democracies.
