I regret to inform you that the Kacho will be pontificating this month on a Game Center CX livestream whether or not it is time to expand the scope of retro gaming to include the PlayStation…3. And Nintendo Wii.

I remember hearing on a podcast once (a long time ago at this point) that basically the PS2 gen was gonna be 'the last retro consoles' because of systems after that being so dependent on downloadables, but instead retro enthusiasts just got really good at piracy

My rule is if it still has HDMI and still uses modern technology, it isnt retro. Therefor the Wii is retro and the Xbox360/PS3 arent. So until HDMI stops becoming the norm and we develop something further than HD, these consoles arent retro in my mind… age isnt the only factor.
