It’s so funny that the company with the most original IPs in gaming is demanded to keep making more lol. And even when they do people ignore them like Polygon just did 😂.

They do many, there's almost a dozen since Splatoon 1 came out. Some even with multiple entries. But we need to ignore them to make the point, right? Plus even if things are on existing IP, things can often be so different to before such as Breath of the Wild, Pokopia, Princess Peach Showtime etc.

This is why nobody should ever consider Polygon as a reliable resource for information.

They did Arms and Drag x Drive... they just didn't work. Believing that they just "need to make new IPs" is wrong, they tried and most of the time it fails

Nintendo does make new IP and reinvent older IP, nobody buys them though because they're either not that amazing or barely advertised. Snipperclips sold well at Switch launch but lost traction afterwards, Astral Chain and a bunch of others during the Switch lifespan were just okay.
