I really liked the story. Squall's personal journey is probably my favorite out of all the FF games I've played.
Too bad I had to watch the ending on youtube. I just didn't like the junction system enough to engage with it very much, and I was underpowered for the final boss.
But great game though.
FF8 was my first 3D Final Fantasy. Followed up shortly by FF7. While I loved both, FF8 has stood the test of time far better to my eyes and brain. If that makes sense 😆
I haven't done a full playthrough in many years. I usually make it through Dollet and then kinda trail off (partly because i get sidetracked by Triple Triad by that point). Once I get some shorter titles done on stream, I might have to do a FF8 playthrough.
So I really liked Final Fantasy 9 and 10. Those are my absolute favorites of all the ones that I've played. Of the modern ones, I would say Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and I'm in the middle of playing Rebirth now.
