You might be able to convince me that the bombing of Hiroshima was justified, but you will never be able to convince me that the bombing of Nagasaki was.

It's amazing. Clocks stopping when someone dies is some kind of deep fantasy, from the poem "Grandfather's Clock" to a hundred detective stories in which something in the manner of death has the side-effect of stopping the victim's watch. I guess it sometimes really happens.

Someone should give that to Trump, in order to remind him what nuclear weapons do, given that he seems to be so keen to use them that he's having someone rewrite US military doctrine. To be honest, he'd probably have the dial and hands straightened out, put a cheap movement in, and get it gilded.
