Youth "deserve our full support & imagination. What they have received instead is a moral panic about social media, one that steers the conversation away from the structural failures of housing, climate, economic inequality, & democratic exclusion, & onto the devices in young people's hands."

Highly recommend reading Manushya Foundation's submission to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association for the UNGA report on “Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association Youth Activism Report: Gen-Z Activism and the Future of Civic Space”

Any online harms to young people are not a "justification for paternalistic policies that silence young people rather than protect them. Age gating is anti-poor. The children who have the least are being asked to pay the price for a half-baked police designed with someone else’s child in mind."
