No joke, the mix of pretty color use, RPG story aspirations, and 70s gag anime mouth animation really works for me. : )
One of the first games I can remember seeing screenshots in magazines and thinking "I can't believe this looks this good".
In retrospect, it definitely looked worse in-person - the blurry photos run through a printing press masked a lot of the flaws - but it still has a very nice aesthetic.
