I sincerely wish we could improve job protection laws around laying off staff. Unions provide a great service for workers, but the government should be protecting them as well.
I think that if a CEO receives a bonus after layoffs, it should be treated as theft. Because I dont care how you finance bro your way to it. If there is bonuses, the entire staff that delivered a product deserved it. Not just the C-Suite crony who likely did fuck all.
