Why not keeping the names anon until the reviews are done? The identity of the researchers shouldn’t matter anyways

yeah it is interesting why not all journals move to a double blind system. The journals that do it would presumably show very different results. probably the only way to make things really fair!

This happens in some places, because I've seen researchers complain "the reviewers claimed I should read [foo] because we didn't cite them enough and clearly misunderstood [foo]'s paper that we did cite—but *I'm* [foo]!" Sometimes funny, sometimes frustrating, apparently.

Going through that right now... major journals desk rejected the bigger of 2 papers where my female colleague is corr. author, while the other paper moved forward smoothly. Solution is NOT to swap corr author to the male co-PI, but to be on their side, and join the little fight from the 2nd row
