IUD insertion was awful, I had to call my friend to come get me because I couldn't nake it home. I was told that "most women didn't find it so bad" when I complained.

As someone with no stake in this, I’m always appalled at how the medical profession treats women. But I’m also amazed that women get IUDs when the implant seems so much better: • Painless insertion • No cramps • No strings • Much better protection against pregnancy Seems like a slam dunk.

The world would be so much less shitty if women were in charge

I was so traumatised by my IUD insertion, I had them take it out while I was under sedation for egg donation bc fuck that pain.

This reads like a press release

The investor pitch should be so easy: "Go home and ask a woman you trust how much she would pay for a painless IUD insertion and come back to us."

I thought that said “tentaculum” for a second and cringed.

Which is why no clinics in the US will have heard of it, much less employ it.

What a fascinating article. Bring the cost down, make it reusable, and start listening to women and girls about their health, and i think there's a big winner here.

I had a terrible experience with an IUD many years ago when it perforated my cervix.
