Looking at Bayern sign Saibari for €50m and Arsenal sign Tzolis for €40m, then Chelsea sign Rogers for €135m, Man City sign Anderson for €135m and Spurs sign Tonali for €108m... why would any Premier League club buy players from WITHIN the Premier League?!

I doubt it. All of those clubs do buy players from outside the PL all the time. I sometimes wonder if these "marquee" signings are exactly that: PR moves to keep fans interested. Not bad players. Just a little too expensive. bsky.app/profile/elit...

I think Wirtz flopping has spooked teams into wanting proven PL players. From their point of view, probably better 100m for a player that performs than 40m for someone who doesn't

Its the home grown players having a premium for European football, and a little bit the been there done that in the prem.

the need for the teams in Europe to have home grown players in euro squads surely a factor also - selling team know there is a premium on english trained players that big teams need.

With our change in formation for Glasner I think we might have just about done that. Now just need to raid Newcastle for the next Anderson and sell them John Victor for £20m
