I'd better define introduction possiblity, annual records of White Storks without natural breeding does not suggest a species which should be introduced anymore than Night Heron, Bee-eater, Hoopoe or many other annual migrants which are more numerous, Pectoral Sandpiper, Little stint.....

Not convinced annual occurrence should make introduction lawful, a history of breeding should be first step.

Please help crowd fund my Pectoral Sandpiper (re)introduction which apparently would be legal, so would Ruff with more justification if only we had the habitat, given that lekking birds might breed more regularly.

The NE position feels like finding a legal loophole after the stable door left open, politically finding the White Stork introduction was unlawful is not something a public servant will want to land on DEFRA civil servants and ministers.

Probably the reality this is a bold step we should be pleased they have taken, given the moneyed supporters of storks who crafted a nice little story.
