It feels like the big 10 had added some schools (Rutgers, Maryland, now UCLA to a lesser extent) based on recruiting footprint more than school quality. That used to be Arkansas for the sec, but A&M kinda took their place, got ok, and every school added since then's been good

I guess I'm asking, would it be accurate to say the sec has mostly added schools to be good at football in the past 20 years, but the big 10 had added schools to unlock new recruiting territory for existing big 10 schools?
