This whole thread is worth a read. Also brought up a memory of an encounter I had with a colleague (from my 4-yr HIED institution in the Midwest) where, a day after a funeral, he said, "I didn't, uh, I didn't realise you were...[*whispering*] Jewish." As though it was something alien/shameful. 🙄
