I have a son who is supposed to be deploying to Italy in May. Can’t help wondering what happens to our European bases if US abandons NATO. It’s an anxiety provoking time with a son, son-in-law & sister-in-law serving in the military right now.

Can you please get your military relatives to talk to others in the military about refusing to obey unlawful or immoral orders? So many younger people have never thought that they might have to disobey authority.

We do talk about it. It is extremely hard for any of them to disobey orders.

Crazy Cat Lady Abroad

When they put on the uniform, we make a deal with them. They put their lives on the line for the rest of us, and in exchange we promise not to frivolously endanger them. Given the history, it's a miracle anybody still does that. But it's important to at least *try* to respect their sacrifice.

I would have hated for my son to have to fight for Ukraine but it is a just war. It would have been what he signed up for. Trump would throw his life away, because he thinks all military personnel are suckers & losers.

It’s a scary time. I would never have had the courage to join the military. It’s not enough to say I appreciate their service. We are all blessed that our service members serve.
