That is a terrible method but at least you HAVE a cohesive method I've been trying to combine my & spouse's SF&F books, alphabetical by author lastname; it's going poorly - about 75% of them are TPB style & the rest aren't & also he doesn't care about how they're organized beyond grouping by series
