I think a lot of his fans are fairly comfortable and there's a tension between that and the politics they espouse. They want to be absolved of feeling guilty so they pretend people are exaggerating their hardships.

I’ve seen Stancil outright quote people who say shit like “a lot of people just never learned how to be proper adults” and adding onto it. He legitimately thinks this stuff boils down to a skill issue.

I guarentee that man can neither cook, nor bake, NOR ferment. He can't craft. He has no particular skill at repair or building. He lacks artistic skill of any kind. From his posting about how economical replacing things all the time is, he doesn't have the position to claim 'adult skill knowledge'.
