I like how Jagi is basically completely forgotten from the narrative when Ken is doing his heartfelt recap of all the important people he crossed paths with. How did Jagi even get into this school, he’s just the guy they trained wrong on purpose, as a joke

Ryuken (the guy confusingly named after the apostate Hokuto school) was honestly a pretty terrible mentor judging by his teaching method for the Hokuto boys. I too am mildly baffled he even gave Jagi the time of day but maybe he was tired of teaching the blowjob brother trio and wanted fresh meat.

I kind of like how the non-canon Jagi gaiden (Gokuaku no Hana) handles it — Ryuken sees Jagi as more of an actual son, and thus tries to “protect” him from the fate of being successor. He’s still fucked up, but it at least adds a layer of complexity on to the reasons why. D:
