Watched PHILADELPHIA (1993) with my family tonight. Both daughters loved it, and for me (third or fourth viewing) the film felt more masterful than ever. Does anybody know why Jonathan Demme made space in his Special Thanks for Ornette Coleman?

Over on Substack, film critic R. Emmet Sweeney replies: “Ornette and Jimmy Scott played on a “Streets of Philadelphia” arrangement, I believe it was recorded (snippets are in the film), but they opted to use the solo Bruce version instead! Never been released in full for some hard to fathom reason.”
