I tried for years to get help. No one was ever taking new patients. My insurer was useless. I had a crisis and went to the EAP counsellor, who insurance allowed me to see five times. I got very lucky. They knew a psychiatrist with an opening, and got me an intake interview. Otherwise, I'd be dead.
