Yeah tick marks are definitely less noisy than the squiggle axis, so that’s an odd criticism to level in this context. The ticks in the photo here, at least, are a bit small and hard to see though.
Oh they said the lines are noisy, not the ticks. Yeah I’d agree with that; the lines are what kind of make this work. The ticks alone would be too non-obvious.
