The PC-88/PC-98 were a Cambrian Explosion of sorts for a range of gameplay and design innovations that found their way to consoles in the mid-90s. many of these games were either straight-up H or dubiously-SFW (see: Doukyuusei, YU-NO, Princess Maker, later on Shizuku and ToHeart, the list goes on)

A lot of mangakas starting off doing h-doujins too, a huge chunk start their professional career that way.

yup, they had hentai in almost literally *every* genre of games, and personally, i think the world is richer for it! 😸
