Jessica Ellis28 июл., 04:09All I can tell you as a woman who went through film academia is a question you get used to internalizing is “now do you mean genius, or do you mean white, male, and funded?” because people get very mad when you ask it aloud.
Jessica Ellis28 июл., 04:12It is my personal, completely personal opinion, that quite a lot of what is accepted as “genius” filmmaking is a result of studio propaganda or unconscious (and conscious) bias toward a white male perspective, and the absolute outrage when critique is ventured I consider to be evidence.
Michael H.28 июл., 04:17I don’t think it’s simply your opinion. It definitely seems like fact. The same white guys get jobs over and over and get praise for what they make with $500 million or whatever. I’m pretty sure a ton of people could do just as well or better for that much money and more likely with less.
Jessica Ellis28 июл., 04:14And my day job is 15% reading scripts at major studios in prepro, and 85% reading scripts by the general writing population, and let me tell you, it’s informed my ideas on this.
