I mostly think about this stuff through music rather than dance because my family were musicians and split roughly into "can you jam?" And "can you play to a professional standard" with some overlap but the latter being a bit offputting

And "can you jam" starts at "can you play the root note percussively with a sense of rhythm and communicating with the others" if you want it to, but "can you play technically well" requires you can get everything other than the communication needed to be on the vibe with everyone else going.

And "can you jam" Vs "can you play" works very similarly to "can you dance" Vs "how did you score?"

Are the foot pedals the instrument toggles?

The instrument registrations are buttons just underneath the keybeds from what I can tell (so switchable at a passing touch). The foot pedals are bass notes

The lighted switches? Wild! I initially thought that might be the case but I don't ever see her pressing them. Incredible!
