The guest of honour suddenly started groaning in his coffin. Cue mass evacuation. Once outside, it was determined that someone should go back in to see if maybe the guy was alive. Or something else. The consensus, which I gather had the full support of everyone but my grandmother, (con't)

Was that as the most educated person at the funeral, it was clearly my grandmother's job. School teachers really had to earn their paycheck back then. As far as she could determine, the issue was lack of embalming and, uh, natural processes. No undead!
