idl the whole story but the gust is - Rather than the dull term "post" people were trying to come up with a new verb for posting on Bluesky. "Skeet" (a shortening of "Bluesky tweet") was among the suggestions and the site's owner (creator?) really really hated it, so naturally it stuck.
