No offense intended, but when a candidate expounds on their "Christian" faith and denounces the separation of church and state, I get a little hot under the collar.
I cut off my sister after her many years of condemning me for swearing, being sarcastic, basically me being me.
After 12yrs of Catholic school she was one of those people who was holier than thou, and was generally a shitty person as far as I am concerned.
She died today.

I went back and forth with my sister all our lives.. not as serious as your situation but certainly led to a lot of conflicting feelings.
We were able to make peace throughout her illness, I hope you're able to find peace somehow
