The Merlin Bird ID app will soon allow users to contribute data to monitor bird populations and aid conservation efforts. The project at Cornell University that produced the Merlin Bird ID app was funded by NSF’s Directorate for STEM Education (EDU), which was gutted by the Trump regime. 🪶

Highly recommended, I'm completely addicted to this app. It's been a real thrill learning just how many birds are coming through our yard.

I love Merlin and use it often (including with and for students). I am curious to see these future developments and wonder what verification steps will be implemented, as (of course) it also gets some things wrong. My son is consistently identified as an Eurasian eagle owl 🙂.
