if you're a presenter it takes 15 minutes to look up names you're not sure how to pronounce. A great way is to look up interviews or videos- people often introduce themselves in videos, and research is a miniscule effort you can do to honor their work and achievements

this happened at SPX a few times last year and it's inexcusable. as a presenter you have one job, don't take on the task if you can't do it respectfully

Yyyyyyeeeeaaaahhh at SPX they've told us there will be pronunciations printed on the paper, and then I've walked up there and there completely weren't. And you don't always know what category you're doing so you can't practice. It's felt a little like getting tossed under the bus with that one lol

That's unfortunate. I can't speak to other years, but I presented last year at SPX and had the info in advance so I believe at least this is improved now
