It's a delightful 1970s tale, with some lovely pastiches and a feel for the era. Just need another 400 pages.

In that case, never read Harlan Ellison's classic I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, or his anthology Deathbird Stories. I wrote his obituary for The Register and love his work, but some of his writing is really disturbing.
