Puerto Ricans already voted for full statehood repeatedly, and the “independence” thing was literally the brainchild of Nazis who got support for their cause from Germany during WW2

Well THAT silly hot take would certainly would come as news to all of those Puerto Ricans who gave their lives for the independence cause before World War I. Sigh. A-historicism is alive and well.
