Exactly! Thank you. Private equity must retreat from care homes. They have their uses. But not in anything to do with human rights, dignity, so health. It would be easy to ban them from the sector. Then cap profits. Other entities could come, that are not profit oriented.

What use does private equity have anywhere? It asset strips viable businesses, saddles them with debt, lays off staff in cost cutting exercises, business goes bust. See major high street names Comet, Debenhams, Flybe, HMV, Maplin, Paperchase, Poundworld, Toys R Us and others. It needs binning.

I tend to agree. However as I've just said to someone else, I think for large structures that need short-term, fast financing, they can be useful. But that's all. So extremely limited.

Not so, the government never needs to borrow from PE. As a currency issuer it always has the funds for any government projects. For government its a political choice.

Wasn't talking about governments. Was talking about large corporations. No, not a fan of P.E either. And again should certainly never be let anywhere near public good.

I think they can help large corporations to restructure by providing financing in a relatively short time. As they are purely short-term profit-oriented, this should be their only market. They should never be let near anywhere near long-term, human focussed activities.

Basically vulture funds taking over our high streets: most big retailers are owned by vulture funds eg Boots. They don't invest, asset strip and run their targets into the ground for high 'management' fees and dividends. Parasites!
