This is a good one for anyone trapped in the amber of the declining tech industry (like me)

By Cory Doctorow (GPG 0xBF3D9110957E5F4C)

Neoclassical econ assumes rationality. The corollary of, "If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?" is "you're rich, so you must be very smart!" Thus, people assume that if powerful, well-compensated CEOs insist that "AI is changing everything," well then, *AI must be changing everything*. 1/

I retired from IT and sold out to my much younger partners/staff after 35 years. The current 'everything' cloud outlook is immensely boring, expensive and insecure while client's don't get it. "We'll implement AI with our cloud partners ..." No you won't.

As I retired, quite-a-few of our clients were starting the process of bring back services/apps to on-prem. Unfortunately their software suppliers had moved to cloud-everything, with no on-prem option and they don't understand they enabled it.
