What I will say is that Argonaut Games here (and their social media accounts here and on X) have been on a year-long nostalgia tour since re-releasing Croc -- pretending like becoming a boutique label for remasters is tantamount to them having never shut down(?), and making promises they won't keep.

What I'm trying to say is, it's all just cynical pandering from a dude who's simply way past the point of caring about consumer feedback. Our guy Jez San is a straight-up crypto dweeb and AI evangelist, and I guarantee you he probably personally thinks what Palmer gets up to is aspirational.

Jez San is literally British Randy Pitchford. It's totally baffling how people still believe his lies about that make him seem more important to Star Fox than he actually was, when it's because of his selfish and paranoid attitude that Dylan Cuthbert couldn't join Nintendo alongside Giles Goddard.

What I'm REALLY trying to say is that all these tech guys who see your nostalgia as a profit opportunity are soulless fucking culture vultures who are banking on blind brand loyalty established in the 80s and 90s to keep their dumbass grifts going. It'd be pathetic if it didn't work on so many folk.

Not every developer / company from your childhood deserves to mount a comeback. You don't need to buy every tchotchke product they dish out in the pitiful hope that it'll lead to them making "something new" (or re-releasing your personal favorite). Sometimes, dead is better.

Sometimes it works out. Rise of the Triad got bumped around some utter shit-houses until landing in the lap of New Blood and Night Dive. If anyone was going to show love to an obscure 90's shooter it was them. They did and then some! But yeah, most of the time it's creeps that got the IP for cheap.
