Cars routinely go over 80 mph through a construction zone on the 50 freeway in Sacramento with a speed limit of 55 mph because police don’t patrol it. Numerous accidents have happened because of this. Speed cameras ticketing anyone going over 5-10 mph over the limit would stop that entirely.
