A suggestion reaches me that some people are working on a change to the Option D plans for new Cambs councils. Apparently this would involve Peterborough taking a lot less of Huntingdonshire, but also a bit of Fenland, aiming to improve Labour's position in Peterborough overall.

I would have thought this was the obvious solution - Whittlesey in Fenland is basically a suburb of Peterborough already.

I do not know who exactly is involved in this alleged work, or indeed whether there is any chance of a new option being considered by the government at this stage of the process, so make of this what you will.

There’s a clear clash between the local gerrymandering by political parties and the government’s goal of establishing a single unitary authority focused on growing Cambridge and the surrounding area.
