it's fucking insane that so many people get away with hiding their license plates so that they can get away with running red light cameras and cops mostly don't care (I'm sure some of them do on their personal vehicles too). like this is something where broken windows policing actually makes sense.

They're doing one of those in Fairfax County, VA (northern VA) and it makes me so happy. Aggressive and dangerous driving has been way up since Covid.

The UK has c2 traffic deaths per 100k of population, the US has 12-13, it’s massively more dangerous. It really underlines your point about broken windows policing.

K but if I'm reading the data right we drive like 3x the distance y'all do annually and about 60% of our traffic deaths happen in rural areas, by which I mean the vast corn wastes that you could comfortably drop England in to and never find it again. There are reasons for America's high incidence
