From what I remember all the dlc stuff was canned due to the insomniac leak. We also might've lost out on a venom solo game as well and that really hurts.
Considering sony's recent batshit decisions I wouldn't put it past them tbh. The other reason might've been because they needed more people on the wolverine game but that's just a guess.
They were cancelled long before the leaks. The game was rushed to come out and between working on the cancelled multiplayer game, Wolverine, etc. Sony decided to drop them before it even launched.
It was during the period when every franchise had to pitch some kind of MTX, always online game. Last of Us Online, Spider-Man online, God of War online. Sony has been flailing for 10 years when it comes to their decision making in the gaming division instead of doubling down on what people want.
I'm aware but to me its just the last series sony was behind that'd ever benefit from a multiplayer spinoff, especially the kind of live service thing they were pushing for. The fact it might've cost us a venom game really fucking hurts.
