The documentary excellently covers Oliveros and Merzbow's predecessors but inadequately explores how tape manipulation and studio architecture shaped their ambient textures beyond composition, making it worth pairing with the actual recordings.

Worth checking out. I learned a bunch. I wish it had contextualized their work in its own time a little more in some spots, but overall a solid effort.

Among the artists featured was Delia Derbyshire, who is obv a total badass. But it had been too long since I’d heard the original Dr Who theme. What a jam. That bass line totally predicts Pink Floyd. Weirder than Joe Meek’s “Telstar.” What a leap. youtu.be/75V4ClJZME4?...
