You know... with how much discourse I'd already heard about Obsession, I wasn't sure it could surprise me. I was very wrong about that. Not because of some sneaky plot turn but just because I wasn't prepared for how hard it goes with everything it's doing.

I loved it. Though I feel like the online discourse has overtaken the film and you can't enjoy it on its own merits without it. (or its just a symptom of being terminally online!) Alex Meyers-type reviews are rightly getting torn to shreds and are revealling more red flags than I feel comfortable!

Honestly, all that I've heard about the movie makes me want to support it, but I can't. (I know it's the point, but I don't like uncomfortable social situations which apparently this film is filled with.)

Inde Navarette is getting legit Oscar buzz, and after last year was the biggest for horror ever at the awards, this would be a great way to carry that forward.

I would have been interested in seeing it if not for the cat-related incidents. I was glad I heard about those ahead of time because I don't think I would be able to handle it. 😶

There's actually one specific detail about the cat that made it way more palatable than it would have otherwise been. The cat is literally never alive in the movie. First time we see it, the cat is already dead. And it's quite obviously a plush toy if you look at it for more than a few seconds.
