Born 27 July 1947, Betty Thomas (born Betty Lucille Nienhause) is an American director and actress. She is best known for her role as Sergeant Lucy Bates on the television series Hill Street Blues, a role for which she was nominated for an Emmy award seven times, winning once. #BettyThomas
