That was my first thought, having been recorded without my consent before. Maryland is a 2-party consent state, so teachers here may have that option.

I actually think class is a decent use case for wearables (not made up for by the perv functions) and the solution for cheating is hand written or making testing facilities with a faraday cage.

I have a no-recording rule in my classes because students have said repeatedly they are anxious to speak up because they fear being recorded and then mocked online (and I don’t want to be, either). What is the justification for these glasses?

Hmm, that’s interesting, I was thinking more lecture based. Can definitely see the issue with discussion. Mainly I think the ability to record and annotate in augmented reality could be useful in science class.

I guess I’d have to see where that’s actually the case and where it’s just a theoretical future feature used to drive immediate adoption, like with VR or chatbots

Yeah my population of students is bit different as well. Yeah not at all sure how we handle without barring from that perspective

Like, there are clear exceptions for documented accommodations. I don’t find that problematic. But as a general principle... I mean, in a PR classroom we cannot discuss ethics or have “what would you do“ exercises if everyone is recording each other. It just won’t work.

I mean it’s facially obvious the primary use cases are antisocial I just think like visual components would be useful for organic chemistry.
