Many SWEs are very clearly stuck in the Denial stage of this grief. And I genuinely empathize with this grief! I also like coding! We enjoyed a few decades of being highly paid to do a thing that is fun. But asserting, “no, I’m going to keep doing my job the fun way” isn’t gonna make it, I’m afraid.
