Universal's backlot tram tour started in June 1964. Cost: $2.50. In August, Tippi Hedren (honorary mayor of Universal City!) joined Mayor Sam Yorty and MCA chairman Jules Stein on the groundbreaking for the actual theme park, then-called Visitors' Village at Universal Studios.
