Academics too often pull the one move professional film critics usually learn quickly not to--they contrast the film with the one they would have made. It turns out, they would have made a much better version of that movies, and it's themes would have been on point.

Wilson’s expertise isn’t in filmmaking and she doesn’t like the entire genre Nolan is working in so I think the essay is of limited utility and incredibly condescending to another talented artist
