Weirdly anxious I don't know everything happening everywhere all the time. Leader of a gang of ducks. The winning platform is anti-corruption, good governance, & expansion of participation in our democracy.

Coming around to the way some countries treat public corruption as a capital crime. Like, maybe not death but life imprisonment & forfeiture of all assets & incomes related to the crimes of the accused (no family members, no friends, *nobody* keeps anything).

Once again reiterating that I personally will never vote to convict anybody protecting themselves or their children from this state-sanctioned sexual assault. Furthermore, everyone should learn and spread the gospel of jury nullification.

An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play

At one point the promise of global free trade was specialization & optimal distribution based on natural resources, geography, & various paths of econ development. We all get rich by working together at what we're best at. Instead we got "jobs where labor is cheap, consumerism everywhere else."

How can you have those things cheaply without lower wage people making them? At some point either you pay the high prices or pretend not to see the wage slaves. But those are the only options.

Nearly every policy problem we have boils down to "this system—which was put into place explicitly to provide [public good]—operates on the profit motive even though markets are merely one imperfect mechanism of distribution & profit-seeking always undermines every other concern, even the law."

Like a lot of things, the problem comes down to the incentive to always maximize profit. Imagine a business selling 2 products. A is cheap low quality. B is more expensive & better produced. The *only thing* that matters to the business is profit. Everything else is on the buyer.

Nathan Tankus

I think this is fundamentally wrong but in an interesting way I will need to write about sometime. The key is a) consumers do not choose what is produced, or how, they choose between what is produced. This is a crucial difference
