This is so disingenuous. Federally recognized civil unions would have been a big step forward. It wasn't about nullifying marriages in Massachusetts. It was about expanding rights nationwide.

The difference is, Obama wasn't actively campaigning against established law like some Dems are with trans rights. Some Dems are doing that right now. Dems looking to claw back the Overton Window to the right on established law amidst fascism should be yelled at, especially pre-general.

Obama didn't take away gay people's right to marry at the federal level. He didn't support it, but he didn't run on taking away established rights. There are Democrats currently running to claw back some rights earned by trans people. It's not all of them, but it's not great.
