And! One of the weeding factors librarians take into account is WHO ELSE owns the book. We are interested in preserving access, even if it's through interlibrary loan. (If you aren't sure if your public library offers that service, ask! I guarantee if they do, they'll be delighted if you use it.)
Sacrifice! At the Harvest FestivalThe posters saying "wait till you hear how many books the librarians shred" are being disingenuous. The destruction of books is not by itself what's causing outrage. It's in combination with many other factors, chief among them AI companies' history of unethical and even blatantly illegal actions.
The secret to a long marriage is to choose to love the person every day and to choose the marriage every day. (It helps if you make each other laugh but that also just makes the choice that much easier to make.)
