Every once in a while leftists relearn online that MLK had guns in the 50s and treat it as winning an argument about guns that certainly lasted the duration of the Southern Freedom Movement. I think it’s unfortunate that they don’t also learn that Bayard Rustin convinced him to get rid of the guns.

I didn't know about this book but it looks like an important one for punk scenes. www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/741635...
It may be that somebody else has already noted this in all the commentary, but one of the underlying realities this makes me think of is the dynamic that exists between police departments and mayors of liberal cities. In reality the police departments have tons of power over most mayors.

It’s an interesting point. Things people compliment me on are my probably unusual attributes, and I guess I can count them on one hand: - hair - tattoos - winter goth coat - giant goth sun hat (they might also be making fun of me 😂) - band shirts (rare but it happens)

Nice to see a new album coming from N0 MAN (DC hardcore fronted by a daughter of Palestinian refugees). "Glitter and Spit" is a great album. nomanband.bandcamp.com/album/betwee...

I went to the MN Fringe Festival preview show the other day and one of the shows used part of their 3 minute preview to say Free Palestine. I do appreciate that. Forgot to write it down but I think it was this one: minnesotafringe.org/shows/2026/f...

I didn't know about this book, it looks fascinating.
John WestA weird part of writing a book is cold-emailing people you admire and asking them to say something nice. I've long admired @anildash.com for his willingness to go against the grain in a field that rewards group-think masquerading as contrarianism. Here's what he said. bookshop.org/p/books/the-...
