Like this is maybe the fourth best King Tubby LP of 1976? And it's A++++

Just struck me that 2026 is the 50th anniversary of (arguably) dub reggae's peak? King Tubby Meets the Rockers Uptown, Super Ape, Dub in Blood, Tapper Zukie In Dub, Joe Gibbs African Dub All-Mighty (Chapter 2), Garvey's Ghost, Harry Mudie Meet King Tubby's. Etc! Some of greatest music ever recorded.

Sure. My point was that this parody song is picking up on all these currents in funny/clever way. (The dude's outfit is actually echt-Billy Joel; the song's chorus, music & lyrics, is way more "River of Dreams" than, say, "Under African Skies")

I ❤️ Simon & Graceland. Also know why the politics of Simon's globetrotting were problematic. As for U2 & BJ check out: 1) Bono's prattle about Rattle & Hum & "the wisdom" of "old bluesmen"; & 2) the "River of Dreams" chorus (gospel/doo-wop/"African" mash-up) & video (Magical Negro extravaganza)
